Pretty Pup all began with Adeline, the original Pretty Pup. She was the friendliest and sweetest dog in Tulsa but, being a stout pittie, intimidated some people when she approached them no matter how friendly her body language.

All Adeline needed to charm her way into everyone’s hearts was a little pink. Whether she was only wearing her signature pink collar or was fully decked out in matching pink harness, leash and, in bad weather, Wag Wellies, a little pop of color signified this sweet girl was ready to love and be loved.

When a hemoabdomen led us to discover Adeline was battling hemangiosarcoma (an aggressive blood vessel cancer), the first Pretty Pup collar was created for an end of life photoshoot. Because she’d had an emergency splenectomy, the photoshoot was scheduled to allow her time to recover before the photos were taken. Unfortunately, Addie didn’t make it to the shoot and succumbed to complications with hemangiosarcoma three weeks after her surgery.

Left with too many materials and missing my dog, I started creating beaded collars for my friends and family. Each collar helped me process my grief and felt like a way to share Adeline’s joy. Now her legacy is Pretty Pup and if adding a little signature color is all a pup needs to show how good a boy or girl they are to the world, we’re happy to be a small part of that.
